For me, Luigi's Mansion was a fun addition to my Gamecube library as well as to the Mario Bros. legacy of games. The game starts off with Luigi walking through a dark and mysterious forest. In one hand he has a map and in the other he is armed with a flashlight. Luigi takes a look at his map and he takes a couple of steps and soon he finds what he is looking for. He finds the mansion that he won in a contest that he didn't even enter. He had told Mario to meet him at his new home but when he arrived Mario was no-where to be seen. So, Luigi decides that he better go inside and search for his brother. He opens the door hesitantly and with fear shaking his hands. He cautiously takes steps into the main area. This is where you take over. The games controls are extremely easy and you will soon forget that you even have a control in your hands. Luigi walks around when you move the control stick. You can flick the flashlight on and off by pressing the B button. When you make it to the next room Luigi will enter another scene where a ghost pops up in front of him ands scares him so bad that he falls to the floor. Now the ghost begins to float towards Luigi seemingly to finish him off. But, to Luigi's amazement he is rescued by a short, old man with huge glasses. The man is wielding a vacuum cleaner strapped to his back. But, as Luigi finds out this is know ordinary vacuum cleaner. The scientist introduces himself as Professor E. Gadd and he runs a science corporation. He tells Luigi that he found the house only a few days before and he swore that it had just appeared out of no-where. Luigi asked whether he had seen Mario and Professor E. Gadd replied that he had and that he witnessed some ghosts capture him and take him into the mansion.Luigi told the Professor that he wanted to save Mario so the Professor lends him the vacuum cleaner (called the Poltergust 3000) and says that he was too old to continue with it anyway. After a quick tutorial on how to use the Poltergust 3000, Luigi is back in the mansion and he's ready to bust on some ghosts! You suck up ghosts with the R button. When you do this the ghost will try to escape but you just need to preass the control stick in the opposite direction and you will get it in. When, you enter you will immediately notice that Toad is there. Just talk to him in order to save. The game is very fun and a cool objective is to collect all the loot that is laying around the house. Depending on how much you get will be given a score once you beat the game. Searching the house is fun and reading diaries off bookshelves gives you a look into the ghosts former lives. Once you defeat a "Boss Ghost" it will be turned back into a painting from which it came and you can view it in the Gallery. The ghosts personality range tremendously and it is extremely cool to look into their pasts. For example, their are twins that are angry at their mother for not paying attention to them but instead to the newborn baby. There are also "elements" that you can use to power up your vacuum. Fire, Ice, and Water are the elements. Eventually you will be asked to find 50 Boos throughout the house which is a nice sidequest. All in all, Luigi's second game alone fared way better than his first (Mario is Missing) but both have the same premise and that is to find Mario. The game is definately worth a rental but I think it is too short to purchase. A fun game to play and I think Mario fans will enjoy greatly.
